Born into a life of poverty in the province of Pinar del Rio, Cuba, Octavio is forced to grow up quickly in order for he and his family to survive. Oppressed by the regime of Fidel Castro, Octavio resists Castro’s propaganda and finds himself shuffled off to one of the labor camps. His faith sustains him during his time of imprison- ment and forced labor. However, his belief in God is about to be challenged when after two years of imprisonment, Octavio is offered freedom if he leaves wearing the uniform of Castro’s regime and denies God. Not belonging to the regime can make your life a living hell.
 

“Beyond The Regime” is based on the true story of Cuban immigrant Octavio Zaragoza. It is a story of love, hope, faith and survival under the most difficult of circumstances: living under the Cuban regime of the infamous dictator Fidel Castro.
